LPS-08 Add-A-Fuse: The Clean Way to Add a Fused Accessory Circuit

OptiFuse LPS-08 add-a-fuse for low-profile mini fuse slots with red #16 AWG lead and butt-splice connector

Modern vehicles (and RVs, UTVs, and work trucks) can run out of fuse space fast: dash cams, aftermarket sunroofs, auxiliary lighting, compressors, GPS trackers, and other add-ons all need power and proper circuit protection.

OptiFuse's LPS-08 is a compact Add-A-Fuse for Low-Profile Mini fuse slots that turns one fuse position into two independently fused circuits. This allows you to add an accessory without cutting or splicing your OEM wiring, keeping your installation clean and professional.

Why Engineers like Add-A-Fuses

  • Adds a new fused circuit without cutting the OEM harness.
  • Keep serviceability clean: both fuses remain accessible in the fuse box
  • Great for low-profile fuse panels where space is limited.

Key Highlights

The LPS-08 plugs directly into a Low-Profile Mini fuse slot and provides:

  • One position for the existing circuit’s fuse
  • One position for a new accessory fuse
  • A pre-attached #16 AWG lead with a butt-splice connector for quick and easy hookup

Key specs engineers care about

  • Fuse style: Mini Style – Low Profile (LP Mini)
  • Compatible fuse series: OptiFuse ANS-I, ANS, and ANS-UL Low-Profile Mini fuses
  • Combined circuits current rating: 40A max with a voltage rating of 58VDC
  • Auxiliary (new accessory) circuit rating: 20A max
  • Lead wire: 16 AWG (red), 5 in

Installation Tip

Add-A-Fuses are directional. For proper protection, install the tap so the wire/pigtail side is on the opposite side of the fuse’s power input, and the “common” side contacts the hot (line) side of the fuse socket. A quick meter check with the factory fuse removed will tell you which side is hot.

Practical safety notes

  • Avoid critical circuits: Do not tap into airbags, ECU circuits, or other safety systems.
  • Size the new fuse correctly: Protect your accessory wiring/device—do not “up-fuse.”  See our Fuse Selection Guide for complete context.

  • If the accessory doesn’t power on: Shut off the vehicle and flip the tap orientation.
